    This job opportunity is for an Assembly Fixture Design Engineer with understanding of and experience in fixture design and implementation for a manufacturing environment supporting the volume production of silicon carbide power modules. The ideal candidate would be proficient in 3D CAD such as SolidWorks and have experience in designing machined fixturing and tooling, sheet metal part trays, automated part feeding, dimensioned prints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, product data management systems, quoting and follow-up with machine shops to get parts made quickly and accurately, etc. for a production environment. Implementation of these fixtures into the production equipment is also a requirement of the position. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with experience in the electronics or semiconductor industries.

    What can you do for Wolfspeed?

    • Design parts handlers, trays, and clamping mechanisms for automated equipment, exploded view drawings, dimensioned prints for electronic packaging production processes such as wire bonding, die attach, vacuum reflow soldering, etc.
    • Provide technical and engineering support as part of the manufacturing team as products move to high volume manufacturing
    • Recommend and implement equipment modifications to improve production efficiencies, lead and/or assist in setting up such equipment
    • Interact with product design engineers to ensure that processes and designs are compatible and optimized for future products

    What you need for success:

    • This is a design engineering position and requires a BS Mechanical Engineering degree.
    • Desired experience would be more than 5 years of tooling design, automation equipment fixture/component design
    • Design experience of machined steel and aluminum parts, sheet metal design, molded plastic component design
    • Technical project planning experience
    • Excellent team player
    • Excellent English communication skills (i.e. verbal, written, and presentation)

    Highly preferred skills and certifications:

    • Experience in quick change die sets (i.e. SMED) is highly desired
    • Computer Aided Machining experience is highly valued
    • Experience in one or more of the following areas: power electronics/modules packaging, production equipment maintenance, statistical analysis software, finite element engineering design tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, etc.
