    Job Summary


    The Wolfspeed Materials R&D team is looking for a hands-on R&D technician with a strong attention to detail, reliability in manual processing, and capacity to quickly grasp and solve technical challenges. A background in working with engineering personnel in a crystal growth, wafering, polish, or a clean room environment.

    What can you do for Cree?

    • Work with a team of scientists, engineers, technicians, and operators to create designs and procedures for bare wafer processing.
    • Synchronize task status and problems with the team. 
    • Identify solutions to shortcomings in processes and design.
    • Attain certification on all relevant processes and operations.
    • Develop a comprehensive know how and best practice of our processes and materials.
    • Reproducibly create test wafers using manual tasks and high attention to detail.
    • Implement solutions to SiC technology problems.
    • Work on several tasks simultaneously and deliver results in complete ownership.
    • Perform calibrations and checks on process equipment.

    What you need for success

    • Two-year technical degree or equivalent materials processing experience in crystal growth, wafering, polishing, or surface preparations
    • Ability to work constructively with a team of manufacturing personnel, engineers, and technicians
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Hands on mechanical skills and experience
    • Computational skills towards manufacturing computer interfaces
    • Ability to work 2nd shift and to act as a link between Day and Night shift.
    • Strong team player, high energy, self-motivated with a “whatever it takes” attitude

    Highly preferred skills and certifications

    • Crystal Growth experience
    • The knowledge, want, and ability to work in several different departments depending on current project goals.
    • Ability to write procedures that will be later used when transferring procedures to production operators
