    Cree is looking to add a Manufacturing Programmer to our Wolfspeed team at our RTP site in Durham, North Carolina. In this role, you will maintain and enhance existing manufacturing systems, as well as create new systems as needed. This includes interacting with the underlying data via MS SQL server, writing queries as well as creating new tables, functions and stored procedures as needed.  The user-interfaces are written in .Net, using Visual Basic, and you will be expected to maintain, improve and create new software as needed.


    Due to ITAR Regulations, this role must be filled by a US Citizen or a green card holder.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Building New Systems
      • New Tables (properly normalized)
      • New Functions
      • New Stored Procedures
      • Visual Studio .NET, Visual Basic language
      • Use Team Foundation Server
      • Document use of new system via an Operator "Spec" and DCN the document
      • Train affected operators across all shifts
      • Monitor records and communicate with users for additional refinement and error correction.
      • Design new applications based on user input
      • Create data structure in MS SQL Server
      • Design User interface
      • Write code to make the application functional
      • Implement the application
    • Maintain Existing Systems
      • Repair errors in code (Visual Studio .Net / Visual Basic) and SQL as needed
      • Continual improvement of existing systems
      • Clean up / consolidate where needed, as systems grow and merge
      • Improve SQL efficiency as needed
    • Project manager for a new traveler system
      • Work across several departments to configure travelers consistently: Product Engineers for 3 distinct technologies, Process Engineers for every tool in a semiconductor fabrication facility.
      • Testing new systems for completeness and appropriate error capturing.
      • Primary Contact for Change Control
      • Review & Maintain SQL database records as needed.
      • Identify desirable new features and Prioritize based upon impact-size, risk and effort required.
    • User Support
      • Unscrap
      • FGI quantity corrections
      • Update wafer ID's in a lot, update part number
      • New tools / new bays / new part numbers
      • Data correction as needed (some items cannot be corrected by users)
      • Educate users on finding / querying data
      • Provide sophisticated queries as needed
    • Continuously strive to reduce cost and increase productivity all while maintaining exemplary quality delivered to customers.
    • Maintain positive working relationships with all levels in the organization.

    What you need for success: 

    • US Citizen or a green card holder
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or a related field
    • 2+ years’ supporting manufacturing environment
    • Data oriented – excels at problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Computer skills – SQL, .Net, database administration
    • Self-starter. Work independently as well as be a strong team member.   Understand the issues at a high level, and prioritize appropriately.
    • Ability to handle change quickly and efficiently – Fast paced work environment
    • Excellent interpersonal communications

    Highly preferred skills and certifications:

    • 3 years’ experience with SQL
    • 3 years’ experience with Visual Studio .Net
    • Experience with Visual Basic
