  • Job Description

    The Facilities/Production Projects EHS Engineer will work closely with all members of production/facility improvement project teams, business unit leadership, and Cree EHS personnel. The position will primarily provide EHS support to Cree manufacturing capacity expansion projects (new tool installations, existing tool moves, production layout changes, and facility support system projects). The Projects EHS Engineer will be responsible for the following:

    • Support EHS aspects of Cree facility and production projects throughout all phases including initiation, planning, execution, performance, monitoring, and closeout.
    • Support project subcontractor onboarding (pre-construction meetings, review site-specific safety plan and job hazard analysis (JHA), review training requirements, contractor pre-qualification, and site orientation).
    • Coach project team members on safety leadership & management practices.
    • Support and review pre-task plans, provide feedback for improvement.
    • Conduct routine, documented safety inspections/audits in coordination with project personnel.
    • Ensure contractor compliance with Cree EHS requirements.
    • Facilitate accident prevention activities in compliance with Cree EHS guidelines.
    • Formulate, create, and maintain site/contract safety plans specific to projects and/or contracts when necessary or required.
    • Ensure proper employee, company, and subcontractor certifications are obtained and maintained.
    • Communicate, educate, and train employees in EHS awareness and specific EHS requirements.
    • Manage and administer the Cree Contractor Safety Program.
    • Support/lead incident evaluations and corrective actions as needed.
    • Function as the liaison between Cree and subcontractor EHS representatives.
    • Maintain project EHS documentation.
    • Identify safety training needs and provide safety training as appropriate.
    • Review projects for EHS aspects in accordance with Cree’s Management of Change (MOC) process

     Additional Requirements:

    • Four-year degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related Engineering field. 
    • New and existing construction experience (demolition, renovation) in a manufacturing setting.
    • At least five years’ experience in an EHS support position for a manufacturing organization.
    • Thorough knowledge of EH&S operations including OSHA and EPA regulations.
    • Experience with MS Office Suite, ability to learn and use Cree EHS Data management Software
    • Be able to maneuver through job sites, including climbing ladders, crawling into tight spaces, and standing for a long period of time.

     

    Preferences:

    • Master’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related Engineering field. 
    • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
    • Membership in industry professional associations (ASSE, ACGIH).
    • Application knowledge of SEMI, IBC, FM Global, and NFPA standards and regulations.
