    The Materials Cost Accountant position reports to the Costing Manager and oversees the costing function for Cree’s Materials product line as well as cycle counts for LED Products inventory. This role is responsible for the performance of the Materials costing function for the Materials product line, including reconciling production systems to financial costing systems, calculating cost pools, allocating costs to units produced, and ensuring that all costs are appropriately absorbed. This role also includes working with Purchasing, Receiving, and Production personnel to ensure that Raw, WIP, and FGI inventory balances are being properly recorded in the Company’s financial statements.



    • Perform costing function for LED Products, including reconciling units in production systems (MES) to the inventory sub-ledger (CAS), calculating cost pools, allocating costs to units and ensuring that all costs are appropriately absorbed.
    • Performing monthly reconciliations of inventory and costs related to the Materials business segment.
    • Weekly reporting of factory yield performance for the Materials departments.
    • Forecasting product costs for all annual, quarterly, and monthly budget cycles.
    • Cycle count management and reporting related to Raw Materials, WIP, and FGI inventory in domestic and international locations.
    • Ad hoc reporting and special projects, primarily related to understanding product costs, factory yields, and the enhancement of financial performance.


    • BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting or a Masters degree in Finance or Accounting
    • 0-3 years experience in Accounting & Finance roles
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent analytical and reasoning abilities and organizational skills
    • Proficiency with Excel, including financial modeling skills


    • Certified Public Accountant certification
