    Test Engineering Manager – Responsibilities

    • Lead Development of cutting-edge systems to test, inspect, query, control, and program LED luminaires, components, and accessories.
    • Instill a culture of teamwork and excellence by leading in that way.
    • Mentor team members and promote personal development.
    • Drive team to push through barriers, identify opportunities for improvement, and continually seek higher performance.
    • Implement and enforce standards to ensure excellence.
    • Ensure effective documentation of systems, processes, and tooling accordingly.
    • Work closely with R&D, Sustaining, Operations, and Quality teams to realize best in class systems while ensuring high performance for all stakeholders.
    • Manage and direct resources on multiple projects simultaneously while balancing the needs of several concurrent customers and changing timelines.
    • Use analytics to provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of test and other processes such as OEE, First Pass Yield, analysis of trends, Gauge R&R, etc.
    • Provide leadership in Design for Test assessments.
    • Manage capital and department operating budgets.
    • Design and write software for controlling both manual and automated test systems with varying hardware and IO requirements for measurement of electrical, thermal and other physical properties of solid state lighting components.
    • Write code to control a diverse set of instruments such as power supplies, source meters, programmable loads, power analyzers, RF analyzers, integrated IO and custom IO solutions
    • Design and development of system applications with intuitive user interfaces that perform according to specifications using LabVIEW and/or VB.NET.


    Job Summary

    The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a high-performance team that realizes deterministic production systems for test, inspection, control, and programming of LED luminaires, components, and accessories. Beyond realization the Test Engineering Manager is responsible for accurate documentation and long-term performance of these systems.

    Leading a high-performance team requires constant commitment to staff development, continuous improvement and standardization. The Test Engineering Manager is a functional leader who uses these methods to ensure customer satisfaction while creating value for the business.

    The Test Engineering Manager reports to the Global Director of Operations Engineering in the Operations Organization of Lighting.

    What you need for success:

    • Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related subject or equivalent work experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in test and measurement, high volume process monitoring systems, or inspection systems.
    • 5+ years of practical Labview/.NET development experience; certification highly preferred.
    • Strong Leadership IQ with commitment to personal development.
    • Experience directly managing engineers/technicians.
    • Experience programming GPIB devices, DAQ, Ethernet IO, I2C and other interfaces.
    • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong personal work ethic.
    • Experience with data charting and tabulations.
    • Strong attention to detail, self-starter, high-energy, strong drive for accomplishment.
    • Experience supporting high volume production environments directly or remotely.
    • Prior experience using DFM, FMEA, DOE, CTQs, and Control plans.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient while managing multiple projects.
    • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally.
    • Understanding of appropriate handling of confidential information.


    Highly preferred skills and certifications:

    • Experience with RF testing
    • Experience creating electrical diagrams/schematics
    • Highly Proficient in Creation of Technical documentation.
    • Experience with MS Project or similar Project management software.
    • Exceptional attention to detail.
    • Resourceful, hands-on, problem solving individual with initiative and drive to work around technical obstacles.
    • Excellent electronics aptitude and ability.
    • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with a customer-focused execution of tasks.
    • Attention to safety, quality, and performance.
    • Self-Starter with sense of self-reliance and sense of urgency.
    • Excellent work ethic with the understanding that excellence is a habit.
    • Ability to identify and eliminate potential safety and performance issues.
    • SolidWorks proficiency.
