    We currently have an opening for a TAX ANALYST within our TAX DEPARTMENT. This position will be stationed at our headquarters facility in Raleigh/Durham, NC.

     

    Summary: This Tax Analyst role will support the Tax Managers and Director within Cree's U.S. Tax Department.  This role will have primary responsibility for sales, use, and property tax compliance with limited involvement in valued added taxes.  This role is entry level but would be expected to advance as responsibilities increase and as Cree's tax profile gains complexity.

     

    Job Responsibilities:

    Property Tax

    • Prepare and update estimate of property tax to ensure proper liability accrual
    • Compile all information required to accurately and timely complete returns, ensure timely filling of returns, review property tax bills for accuracy, and ensure timely payment of all bills
    • Identify and implement improvements to ensure property tax reporting is complete, accurate, and efficient
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations of property tax accounts
    • Assist with property tax audits including responsibility for drafting communications, preparation of responses to information document requests and related inquiries

    Sales and Use Tax

    • Calculate use tax on the Company’s U.S. purchases
    • Ensure proper accounting related to all areas of sales and use tax
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations of sales and use tax accounts
    • Research and identify changes in state tax laws and regulations
    • Identify and implement improvements to ensure sales and use tax reporting is complete, accurate, and efficient
    • Validate customer exemption certificates and maintain CertCapture database
    • Assist with sales and use tax audits including reconciliations of years under audit and preparation of responses to information document requests and related inquiries

    Value Added Tax

    • Assist with compilation of information that is required to complete VAT returns
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations of VAT accounts 

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor or Masters in Tax or Accounting
    • CPA certification or CPA eligible
    • Displays Cree’s Values
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Motivated to learn and grow within the organization

    Preferences:

    • One to two years tax experience, preferably public accounting
    • Organized with the ability to work many projects and tasks simultaneously
    • Comfortable compiling, analyzing, and organizing large volumes of data
    • Detail oriented with a focus on completing a work product requiring minimal changes
    • Self-motivated with drive and initiative
