    The Materials R&D team is looking for a Development Engineering Manager with experience in carbon materials or a related field, a good understanding of materials behavior, and a capacity to quickly grasp and resolve challenges. This individual must be a resourceful problem solver with strong analytical & communication skills that will enable the successful execution of new technology development and improvement of existing processes.

    What can you do for Wolfspeed?

    • Lead the teams and efforts to develop, implement and transfer technologies related to large diameter SiC substrate manufacturing
    • Identify, establish and develop key relationships with target suppliers 
    • Influence deep into the supply chain related to SiC and determine the best ways to invest in enhancements to this chain
    • Inform and support Cree’s functions related to SiC substrate
    • Monitor new technology developments and identify, quantify and communicate new opportunities
    • Perform assessment of problematic situations
    • Assist in getting the suppliers to increase the available quantities to Cree, and improve the product capabilities
    • Identify and study target companies and industry verticals.
    • Organize and track business development leads and opportunities in the relevant graphite field
    • Develop project plans, technical approaches, timelines and deliverables for assigned projects.
    • Work on several projects, simultaneously and successfully, in complete process ownership within a 24x7 manufacturing environment
    • Establish practices which include employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action.
    • Establish accountability for problem solving both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.


    What you need for success

    • BS with 5+ years of industrial semiconductor materials process and equipment experience
    • Independent thinking, attention to detail, strong organizational and planning abilities
    • Strong leadership skills, high energy, self-motivated with “whatever it takes” attitude
    • Ability to work constructively with a team of R&D, manufacturing personnel, engineers and technicians
    • Experience in relevant equipment start-up and transfer experience
    • Statistical data analysis skills and experience


    Highly preferred skills and certifications

    • Knowledge semiconductor crystal growth field and crystal growth equipment
    • Experience on high volume semiconductor materials platforms
