    The primary focus of this position is to drive product quality, yield, cost, performance, and customer satisfaction. Product engineering is closely aligned with all levels of LED engineering, production control and marketing to make products that meet or exceed both cost and performance goals. A successful candidate will take customer feedback, inline testing results, factory constraints and demand to drive revenue growth in all sectors of the market.

    This role must be filled by a Green Card holder or a US Citizen.

    In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop LED chips and components for solid-state lighting.  You will work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop and transfer into production new LED-based solid-state lighting products and processes. You will work with vendors and customers from markets all over the globe and have a real impact to Cree’s future.

    What can you do for Cree?

    • Provide engineering support for high volume 24x7 global manufacturing across multiple engineering groups and product lines.
    • Analyze data using sound statistical methodology to drive improvements and recommendations to operations, marketing, and planning.
    • Support development and implementation of strategies to drive yield monitoring and improvements, cycle time reduction, and enhancement projects across multiple product lines.
    • Take ownership for resolving customer quality and on-time delivery issues across multiple product lines.
    • Lead and facilitate cross functional teams for problem solving.
    • Interface with marketing, New Product Introduction (NPI) and reliability engineering to solve problems and implement new processes.

    Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Qualifications

    • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and LED functionality.
    • Statistical data analysis using JMP, Minitab or similar packages.
    • Experience using or working with the results of standard failure analysis tools (SEM, FIB, EDS).
    • Ability to devise and drive projects from launch to completion.
    • Ability to present data to varied audiences and tailor the message based on the audience.



    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

    • BS in Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Math or related field.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong computer and data analysis skills.
    • Strong self-motivation and ability to manage multiple projects with minimal guidance.
    • Able to adjust to changing priorities and schedules.
    • Active participation in the problem solving, solution implementation, and performance monitoring process.
    • Willing and able to travel abroad (Up to 3 times/year).


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • MS in Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
    • 5 years of experience in manufacturing in a technical area.
    • Working knowledge of SPC and DOE principles and methods.
    • Experience with databases, data analysis and programming tools (SQL, Access, JMP, Excel, etc.)
    • Ability to interface with people of different backgrounds, and cultures at every level of the organization.
    • Experience leading cross functional global teams to solve problems and implement new processes and products.
