    The manager chosen for this position will be a key member and leader within Cree's chip manufacturing fab engineering team.  This team is responsible for the process engineering functions of a 24X7 compound semiconductor fab operation.


    Shift:  1st Shift (M-F)

    • You will lead and develop a dedicated and diverse staff of engineers and technicians.
    • You and your team will have an impact on FAB performance and will be challenged to support continuous improvement initiatives to decrease costs, improve yield, and improve product quality.


    What can you do for Cree?


    • Lead multiple process engineering teams including metals, etch, CVD, photolithography, package/test and wafer thinning.
    • Sustain and improve FAB processes by leading a diverse team with a mission to support a high-volume compound semiconductor factory producing multiple devices.
    • Organize and manage projects that positively impact costs and product yields while maintaining both near and long-term roadmaps.
    • Participate in strategic planning including tool selection.
    • Successful candidate will be expected to be a role model for effective technical problem solving using structured methods such as 8D, 5 whys, and DMAIC.
    • Partner with product engineering, yield engineering, and R&D to ensure effective new product and process introductions as well as consistent device performance and quality.      
    • Develop and mentor existing staff as well as expand the team though external and internal recruiting.
    • Interface with equipment engineering, management, and manufacturing to improve cycle time, tool
      availability, process/product yield, and drive cost reductions.
    • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


    What you need for success:


    • BS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent.
    • 7+ yrs Wafer Fab experience.
    • 3+ yrs team management experience including management of engineers within a sustaining team.
    • Working knowledge of semiconductor metals, etch, CVD, photolithography, and thinning processes and associated toolsets.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions.
    • Working knowledge of applied statistics (SPC/DOE) and structured problem-solving methods.


    Highly preferred skills and certifications:


    • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Equivalent.
    • 10+ yrs Wafer Fab Experience.
    • 5+ yrs. Wafer Fab Engineering Leadership Experience leading multiple sustaining teams within a process organization.
    • In-depth technical knowledge of semiconductor metals, etch, CVD, photolithography, and thinning processes and associated toolsets.
