    We currently have an opening for you as a Manager of Equipment Engineering within Cree’s Operations group. You will be stationed at our facility in Durham, NC.


    In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of 24x7 manufacturing equipment technicians in the day to day repair and maintenance of tools in Wafer PREP.

    What can you do for us?

    • Manage and support 24x7 equipment team to repair and complete preventative maintenance on all Wafer PREP processing and support equipment.
    • Own and drive continuous improvement efforts to ensure equipment meets availability goals.
    • Work with Process & Equipment Engineering to plan, purchase and facilitate installation of new equipment to support capacity ramps.
    • Work with entire operations team to achieve safety goals.
    • Drive standards, certification and training efforts where needed for all technicians.
    • Manage purchasing and inventory of spares required to maintain equipment.
    • Work closely with Process Engineering teams to drive yield & cycle time improvements.
    • Create and maintain documentation specific to the equipment team.

    What you need for success:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an engineering or science curriculum.
    • 7+ years of semiconductor equipment maintenance experience.
    • 2+ years as an Equipment, Process or Section Manager with responsibility for leading a technical team.
    • In depth understanding of wafer processing: singulation, edge polishing, surface polishing, surface metrology, wafer cleaning, implant, and wafer thinning equipment.
    • Strong troubleshooting and hands-on background.
    • Must be a team player and have a “whatever it takes” approach.
    • Must have a positive, professional, energetic, can-do attitude.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

    Highly preferred skills and certifications:

    • 10+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
    • JMP or equivalent software experience, and working knowledge of SPC Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability and desire to assume a technical leadership role within the organization.
