RF R&D Intern

This internship position will work in a semiconductor device design and fabrication facility alongside our RF process and device development engineers. This person will undertake one of several projects related to characterization, design or fabrication of GaN-based discrete transistors and/or MMICs and compile a presentation of results to support engineers. The assignment is expected to be for the summer months (May-August).

Project Responsibilities:

  • study of interface state density quantification on various dielectrics on AlGaN HEMT epitaxial structures;
  • correlation of on-wafer breakdown voltage back to in-line channel defectivity;
  • develop an on-wafer humidity robustness screen useful of improving component reliability;
  • develop an IMD (inter-metal dielectric) process compatible with GaN device process integration;
  • develop baseline lift-off defectivity monitoring based on electrical screen.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a BSEE or MSEE degree program.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device physics and/or wafer processing methods.
  • Previous lab or class experience with material characterization and semiconductor device electrical characterization.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen or Green Card holder.

Preferred:

  • Device/circuit layout software experience.
  • TCAD physical device simulation experience.
