Job Description


Serve as an equipment owner for various tools within the Wafer Fab department, providing ‘hands on’ technical expertise and reliability improvement solutions. This role will interact directly with manufacturing and research and development team members to optimize overall equipment effectiveness. This role will also be responsible for training and developing equipment technicians on proper maintenance procedures and advanced troubleshooting techniques.





  • Develop tool metrics to analyze equipment performance and reliability.
  • Participate in complex machine failure modes, providing advanced troubleshooting opportunities
  • Provide equipment redesign ideas to improve inherent capabilities of existing equipment.
  • Utilize a reliability centered approach for determining levels of maintenance required, and optimizing existing maintenance specifications.
  • Maintain and add controlled documentation for corrective and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Serve as a team member on process directed teams representing equipment ownership on multiple reactors.
  • Develop and maintain a cost of ownership program for each tool, and utilize to provide cost reduction opportunities.
  • Provide training to the team to improve over-all capabilities and system knowledge.
  • Participate in staffing and interviewing efforts to maintain an effective organization.
  • Assist in equipment installation and start-up coordination efforts for new reactors and equipment modifications.
  • Track tool consumption of raw materials.
  • Provide facilitation of tool transitions between development and manufacturing.
  • Exhibit and mandate safe working practices to the team.
  • Exhibit proper communication and escalation practices throughout the maintenance team.
  • Foster teamwork and support team-building activities.

Provide flexibility for 7 x 24 technical support for dedicated tools and project assignments.





A Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline is required in addition to at least 1 year of semiconductor manufacturing experience. The candidate must have a solid understanding of vacuum and gas delivery systems. Previous technical training experience is highly desirable.




  • Preferred 4+ years of semiconductor etch system maintenance and repair experience or equivalent military experience.
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment.
  • Must be organized, neat, detailed, conscientious, and thorough.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • PC experience – MS Word, Excel, Access
  • Will work around electrical (high and low voltage), compressed gasses, acids, solvents
  • , vacuum pump oils, and other chemicals.
  • Must be able to regularly lift 65 lbs
  • Must be very dexterous – will be required to work on small assemblies.
  • Must be computer literate.
