Job Description

Cree currently has an opening for a Process Development Engineer within our Reliability and Characterization Lab at our Raleigh/Durham, NC headquarters facility and is looking for enthusiastic, hands-on candidates to join our exciting fast-paced company.  In this position, you will conduct experimental work aimed at the development and qualification of new semiconductor based products and processes.  You will also work with and be responsible for complex equipment and measurement systems that help enable our success.

 

Position Description:

  • Cree currently has an opening for a Process Development Engineer within our Reliability and Characterization Lab at our Raleigh/Durham, NC headquarters facility and is looking for enthusiastic, hands-on candidates to join our exciting fast-paced company.
  • In this position, you will conduct experimental work aimed at the development and qualification of new semiconductor based products and processes.
  • Work with and be responsible for complex equipment and measurement systems that help enable our success.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop test procedures, techniques, and systems to support the development and qualification of new products.
  • Develop new tests in response to customer requests and product development needs, and setup established tests per relevant industry testing standards.
  • Perform detailed, in depth analysis and interpretation of test results and communicate findings expediently. Provide and drive improvements and recommendations based on these results.
  • Perform failure analysis of semiconductor chips and packages, interpret root cause, and lead improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with and enable cross functional teams in the development and qualification of new products. This includes the coordination of activities among a wide range of functional departments including the following:  R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Facilities, Applications, and Marketing.

  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and schedules to keep projects and commitments on-track.
  • Provide flexibility for 24x7 technical support for critical issues.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science Engineering or Physical Science.   New or recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude/troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years experience in semiconductor manufacturing, reliability testing or device characterization.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor reliability.
  • Experience with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Access, SAS JMP, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of SPC and DOE principles and methods.
  • Experience in semiconductor device and/or failure analysis.
