Job Description

This position primarily requires an intermediate to high-level skill set in some portion of the mechanical, electrical and HVAC disciplines. Additionally, this position will be an added resource that is focused on supporting our new waste water process system, with testing, tracking, coordinating with the lead waste water technician.  This Technician will support Wolfspeed (Cree’s Power & RF division.


Some specific technical skills needed for this role include experience working in one of the following environments where complicated electrical, mechanical equipment and systems exist: semiconductor, pharmaceutical, chemical, hospital, manufacturing. 


Responsibilities Include: 

  • Act as a system(s) owner for one of the industrial mechanical, electrical or HVAC systems.
  • Perform corrective & preventative maintenance on systems & equipment in the plant as well as the entire facility.
  • Install, inspect, operate and monitor all types of electrical/mechanical equipment, systems & processes.
  • Review & author SOPs & PMs, training documentation.
  • Support & implementation of reliability improvement projects.
  • Educate and share information to train fellow employees.
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties.
  • Participation in plant shutdown planning & execution efforts.
  • Help growth & development of the RTP Facility Operations Team.
  • Conduct exceptional communication across the team and in any shift pass-down reports.
  • Work independently with minimal instruction and direction. 


  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 10+ years of applicable experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • This is primarily a 1st shift position. However, flexibility will be required to work on occasion: 2nd or 3rd shift, 12-hour shifts, holidays and weekends.
  • Possess a team-centric mindset.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field and/or certification, license, qualified in one of the industrial mechanical, electrical or HVAC areas.
  • Experience with PI&Ds, plus basics of calibration, installation, application, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting of industrial systems.
  • Knowledge of building systems like low-medium electrical distribution hardware, water distribution systems, steam and condensate systems, clean-dry compressed air, DI/RO systems, waste pump and tank systems, HVAC chiller / cooling tower, equipment process cooling water, and boiler operations.
  • Ability to read blue prints, electrical schematics, mechanical piping and duct drawings, and technical manuals, plus to be able to disassemble and reassemble equipment associated with all systems using various tools and equipment.
  • An attitude that reflects excitement and eagerness, with an unparalleled desire to learn systems & equipment outside of a primary expertise.
