Job Description

Job Summary

This position has the responsibility to create, review, amend, and maintain attainable and effective production schedules for assigned products and product families. The production planner is expected to utilize system tools inclusive of material requirements planning and capacity planning to ensure that the supply chain is effective in meeting the needs of our customers while maintaining required delivery and inventory goals.

 

Production Scheduler – Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain Oracle data integrity inclusive of routings and bill of material accuracy.
  • Analyzes forecasted demand to ensure safety sock and strategic inventory levels on finished goods are maintained.
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels ensuring uninterrupted supply of parts while maintaining optimal inventory levels, along with ensuring customer reliability and meeting target inventory turns.
  • Execute MRP and the timely creation of shop orders to satisfy customer demand, achieve desired stocking levels and maintain flow of work on the factory floor.
  • Track progression of production orders, investigate factors that affect schedules, and modify plans as necessary.
  • Expedite critical orders throughout the supply chain.
  • Inform management of potential production supervisors and purchasing teams to ensure schedule adherence and recovery if required.
  • Communicate frequently and proactively with customer service team to meet or exceed customer expectations and establish effective relationships.
  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement activities related to production planning, customer service and inventory management. Participate as required in problem solving teams, kaizen events, cross functional committees, and multi-discipline initiatives.
  • Perform planning functions required to achieve the timely and successful launch of new products and participate as assigned on new product development teams.
  • Performs other related functions as required to achieve department and site objectives.
  • Execute local supplier contract administration within the parameters of the individual contracts.
  • Resolve disputes and/or discrepancies relative to deliveries, counts, quality, cost, invoices, etc.
  • Take ownership for initiating actions to correct inventory shortages and similar impediments to executing the work center production schedule.
  • Learn and effectively use the Cree Lighting System or other designated system to develop and communicate the schedules to the production work centers.  The position will support the facility safety, quality and cost objectives. The production planner has a significant impact on customer service and shop floor activity and therefore must be a creative thinker with sound decision making ability that acts with the customer in mind

 

What can Cree do for you?

  •  BS degree in Business or Engineering or related field and 3-5 years in manufacturing experience.
  • Independent problem solving skills/resourcefulness are required.
  • Accuracy and timeliness are critical.
  • Strong communications skills; both written and oral.
  • Travel as required <5%.
  • Execute local supplier contract administration within the parameters of the individual contracts.
  • Resolve disputes and/or discrepancies relative to deliveries, counts, quality cost, invoices, etc. 

Highly preferred skills and certifications:

  • Working knowledge of Oracle which must include the following areas: MRP process, Material Master, Production Planning, BOM, Purchasing and Warehouse/ Inventory Management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and ability in Microsoft Suite.
  • APICS CPIM certification (Preferred).
