Job Description

SUMMARY The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for the timely coordination and production of marketing materials such as the e-conolight catalog, collateral in support of new product launches, and sales and marketing programs. Key deliverables include but are not limited to the catalog, advertising, product/sales collateral, case studies, sales/training aids and direct mail. This is a marcom generalist role that works closely with Product Marketing and Product Management to ensure consistent and effective integration of overall Cree branding, and channel- and product-specific messaging in all marketing materials. This position requires a self-starter capable of producing marketing materials in all mediums both independently and collaboratively with the use of internal and external resources. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work closely with marketing leadership and other internal customers to understand the product family marketing strategy, target customers, industry trends, competitive advantages, and overall communications needs.
  • Effectively translate product information and messaging gathered from Product Management and Product Marketing into content that is informative, relevant, and engaging to the target market.
  • Based on strategic guidance, develop integrated marcom materials in a variety of channels and mediums to support new product launches, sales promotions, events, and other sales and marketing programs.
  • Develop, produce and ensure timely distribution of marcom print and electronic materials for which you are responsible.
  • Gather and organize relevant content including product specs and other technical data, marketing copy, photography, digital media, illustrations, and artwork;
  • Outline, write and edit marketing copy internally or by managing external vendors;
  • Outline and lay out design graphics internally or by managing external vendors;
  • Coordinate gaining approval from key stakeholders including legal
  • Manage the print production and fulfillment process with various printers.
  • Support Web Marketing Specialist in the creation and deployment of email and web communications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, or other relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in integrated marketing communications, preferably with heavy experience in print.
  • Knowledge in new marketing and design trends, various marketing vehicles and channels to market.
  • Exceptional creativity, writing and/or design skills, and communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work on multi-functional teams, gain consensus from a wide variety of stakeholders, and negotiate with vendors.
  • Well-organized and highly motivated to manage multiple ongoing projects and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain a high level of ownership and accuracy on all work activities.
  • Experience with content management systems, digital asset management systems, and web-based email marketing platforms.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).
  • Willingness for occasional travel (less than 10%).

Preferences:

  • Marketing experience in the lighting industry.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite 5 or higher.
  • Knowledge of any of the following digital platforms: salesforce.com, GroupSite, SiteCore, HTML, CSS, DALIS by Widen Collective, Bronto (email marketing).
