Job Description

SUMMARY

As a QA Engineer your main duties will be to monitor, analyze, and improve the quality of our products and systems. You will ensure that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked, and resolved.  Your duties will include participating on new product introductions, APQP teams, and handling other production/process quality engineering functions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations.
  • Perform product/process audits on products completing Production Pilot runs. Review new products for ease of installation and recommendations for future improvements.
  • Devise sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data.
  • Perform product failure/complaint analysis to identify the cause of the failures/complaints, down to the component level as necessary.
  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error; determining levels of confidence.
  • Participation in DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/A events with cross-functional team members.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to other technicians, and product support personnel.
  • Support the QA Auditors with their audit findings and corrective actions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Potential supervisory duties of Technicians and/or Auditors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an equivalent capacity
  • Certifications an advantage including Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate, Six Sigma, Lean, etc. ASQ certification would be a plus.
  • Quality inspection, auditing, and testing experience
  • Experience with implementation of corrective action programs such as 8D or A3.
  • Product or industry-specific experience in electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Access, Oracle and databases
  • Applied knowledge of APQP and PPAP tools
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements

 

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures, and functional specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot lighting systems to the component level.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers via verbal and written means. Ability to work under limited supervision and direction.
  • Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, bills of materials, work instructions, and technical drawings.
  • Write reports and provide professional business correspondence.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels within the organization, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capability to interpret technical instructions and provide recommendations for improvements.
